Since their inception 12 years ago, the Bank of Scotland Herald Angels awards have been awarded to a veritable who's who of the arts world.
Amongst the luminaries from the world of music to have been awarded a Herald Angel are chief conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Ilan Volkov; former musical director of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Claudio Abbado, and renowned singer of traditional Gaelic song, Flora MacNeil.
The awards have also been presented to some of the more familiar faces from stage and screen, such as comedian Arthur Smith, actress Anita Dobson and comedy troupe the Mighty Boosh.
It's not just the artists that are recognised by the Herald Angel awards. Whole companies such as the New York City Ballet, the National Theatre of Scotland and Edinburgh's own Grid Iron Theatre are amongst the recipients of these much-coveted honours.
